Welcome to Larne Athletic Club

Larne AC

Larne Athletic Club is Larne’s leading athletics club and reaches a milestone 25th anniversary in 2013.

We are a friendly club and welcome all level of abilities of like minded people who may take their running seriously (but not that seriously!) or may just want to keep a bit fitter.

We are proud that runners all over the world come to compete in our Larne Half Marathon event each March and are pleased to be able to donate a proportion of the proceeds to local charities.  The 2014 Half Marathon will take place on Saturday 22nd March, enter now http://larnehalfmarathon.webs.com/

Join us whatever your level of ability (must be over 15 years).  October to March we meet at Curran Road Bowling Pavillion at 7.00pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  April to September we meet at different locations, so please check out the Message Forum.

During training we break up into groups to suit all abilities so if you're training for a marathon or just simply want to get fit for your holidays come along and try it out.

Training for week beginning Sunday 13th April

Tuesday, 15 April – meet at BALLYGALLY car park
Group 1 – warm up; two sets of 4x½ mile, two minute recoveries and four minute jog recovery between sets; warm down

Group 2 – warm up; two sets of 3x½ mile, two minute recoveries and four minute jog recovery between sets; warm down

Group 3 – warm up; two sets of 2x½ mile, three minute recoveries and five minute jog between sets; warm down

Group 4 – warm up; accompanied steady run of 30 – 40 minutes duration; warm down

Thursday, 17 April – meet at DRAINS BAY car park
All – steady run through forest, with the option of cutting off at the Croft Road or going to Cairncastle via the Weyburn Road, the Brustin Brae Road or the Ballymullock Road, with the further option of picking up the pace for all (3 miles) or part of the return run from Cairncastle to Drains Bay car park
