Les Jones 10K |

Larne AC had 7 runners who took part in this years running of the Les Jones memorial 10K held on Friday evening.
On a perfect evening for racing over 240 runners made their way to the Mary Peters track for the event which took in elements of track, road, forest trail and mountain (well, one steep and nasty hill!) running.
Craig Hutchinson continued his fine recent form by being first Larne AC runner across the finish line in 13th place overall in a time of 0:35:42. Bernard Brady and Billy Thompson had a great battle for the honour of being second home for the club with Bernard just edging it on the final lap of the track to come home in 19th with Billy on 20th and only 3 seconds separating them. Bernard’s and Billy’s times were 0:37:02 and 0:37:05 respectively.
Brian Heron probably had the race of the evening for the club. Barely a week and a half after running the Belfast Marathon Brian put in a superb performance to finish 33rd in a time of 0:39:05.
Though he suffered badly from stomach cramp Peter Marrs did well to maintain his form and completed the course in 0:45:00 followed by Chris Gilbert in 0:54:14. Chris has had a recent bad run of injuries and it would be great to see him come through this and get back to his best.
Aileen Donnelly completed the club’s representation only narrowly missing out on getting a sub 60 min with a time of 01:00:02.
